Northwest

California: $29 billion, 2000
California farm sales reached $29 billion in 2000, led by $3.4 billion in farm sales in Fresno County, $3.1 billion in Tulare, and $2.9 billion in Monterey county.

Subsidies, Trade
The US first made payments to farmers in 1933, in an effort to help struggling farmers deal with the Depression.

Mechanization and Productivity
